Whole-House Glazing Budget Planner
One question: how many bedrooms does your property have? We'll give you an instant three-tier budget covering every window, door, and skylight in the house. Useful for initial planning when renovating, buying, or comparing quotes โ no postcode or email needed.
Budget ranges are estimates only based on typical UK house typologies and national installer averages. Actual costs vary by property layout, specified products, regional labour rates, and access conditions. Always obtain 3+ site quotes. See our methodology for full detail.
How it works
UK homes follow reasonably predictable patterns by bedroom count. A 3-bedroom semi-detached house typically has about 12 windows, 3 doors, and 1 skylight. A 1-bedroom flat has roughly 6 windows and 2 doors. These counts are based on UK property typologies and verified against Rightmove floor plans and the English Housing Survey.
- Economy tier: standard uPVC double glazing in white with basic ironmongery โ the entry-level option that meets Building Regulations. Typical for rental properties, budget renovations, and volume new-build.
- Mid-range tier: uPVC or aluminium double glazing with colour options (foiled, woodgrain), improved hardware, and better thermal efficiency. The most common choice among UK homeowners.
- Premium tier: timber or aluminium triple glazing with heritage RAL colours, smart hardware, and acoustic upgrades. Suited to period properties, listed buildings, and high-spec renovations.
Limitations
This is a planning tool, not a quote. Actual window counts depend on room layout, bay windows, and non-standard features. Conservatories, garden rooms, and extensions are not included. For an accurate quote, we recommend using our detailed cost calculator with your actual window count and postcode.
